James Caan
Entrepreneur and Dragon's Den Investor
Whether as an anchor panelist of BBC’s hit show, Dragon’s Den, or as a respected entrepreneur in his own right, James’ achievements speak for themselves. Leaving his family home at 15, without a qualification to his name, James’ meteoric journey via a Mayfair Broom cupboard to what now appears to be a permanent place in the Times Rich List is a story of passion, hard work and opportunism.
James Caan was born in 1960. He is a British entrepreneur of Pakistani origin from Lahore. He is CEO of private equity firm Hamilton Bradshaw and has been building and selling businesses since 1985. In October 2007, Caan joined the panel in the fifth series of BBC Two’s Dragons’ Den. Having founded the Alexander Mann Group in 1985. James has been awarded for his success and service to industry and investment in people. In 2003 he was awarded the prestigious PricewaterhouseCoopers ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’.
A key ambassador for NSPCC Full Stop Campaign and the Prince’s Trust, James is committed to putting something back into the industry he knows and loves. In 2009 James was appointed new co-chair on the Ethnic Minority Business Taskforce, which supports over 280,000 businesses, contributing in excess of £20 billion a year to the UK economy.
His investment skill is without peer in his space; founder of Alexander Mann recruitment in 1985, when he finally sold his last equity stake, the company turned over £380m and employed over 5000 people worldwide. His investments since then have included an eclectic mix of companies and products ranging from Property Development to treadmills for pets!

A consummate and utterly reliable professional, with an engaging personality, James is now seeking to increase his endorsement, speaking and facilitation portfolio.
