Dessie Farrell
Former Captain of Dublin Football team
Dessie Farrell has been a Dublin Gaelic football star for
well over a decade. A former captain, he has played under
seven different managers and was a pivotal and inspirational
figure when Dublin last lifted Sam Maguire in 1995.
He has won every honour with club and county and has recently
been appointed to the Central Council of the GAA. Off the
field, as the Chief Executive of the Gaelic Players Association
he has steered the organisation into a position where it
threatens to bring about the greatest upheaval in Irish
sport, the establishment of player power.
Prior to this Dessie’s background involved qualifying
as a Psychiatric nurse before entering the pharmaceutical
industry, where he worked in sales and sales management
so he understands the demands and goals placed on individuals
in a sales environment.
He has successfully incorporated his expertise in on field
management and motivational psychology into his working
environment where he inspires both individuals and teams
to "be the best they can be". Dessie's unique
motivational skills show the how the world of sport and
business have so much in common both being competitive and
emotive.
