David Tighe
Broadcaster, Businessman, Communications Expert and Media Commentator

David Tighe (40) has been in the business of communication for 20 years. He has worked throughout Europe as a broadcaster, manager and consultant. David was appointed by the government to the Broadcasting Complaints Commission (BCC) in 2005. The BCC was the regulatory body that had responsibility for standards in all radio and television broadcasts in Ireland. David is a former Chairman of the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland (IBI), this is the representative body for all independent radio and television in Ireland. David has had articles published in the Irish Times and the Irish Marketing Journal and was named as one of the most influential names in media in Ireland by The Sunday Tribune.

From 2002 he worked with Ulster TV as Chief Executive of Limerick's Live 95FM. Under his guidance the station won national radio awards (PPI) in 2003, 2004 and 2005. In 2005 the station won a Gold Radio Award for news and current affairs at the New York Radio Festival World Radio Awards. Under his tenure Live 95FM achieved its highest ever market share and had eight consecutive increases in its audience.

Prior to this, David worked with broadcaster's EMAP in the UK, the company responsible for digital music channels like "The Box", "Kiss TV", "Kerrang", "Smash Hits TV" and worked extensively on projects with young people specifically around health and drug issues. David created a very successful partnership between the police, local health authorities and the media to create a safe night-club experience for under 18's with the theme "You're in
control..Keep it that way". David also championed the plight of the parents who are left to deal with the aftermath of children on drugs and highlighted the lack of resources and information available to them to deal with the situation.

David Tighe is now the Chief Executive with Radio Nova 100 which he will build and launch this year. Radio Nova 100 will be one of the last radio stations to be launched in Ireland. The station will broadcast to Dublin city, county and the commuter belt. The station name will evoke memories of another Radio Nova which was the subject of great attention in the early 80's in Dublin.
